The right diet does not only reduce the risk of developing various kinds of cancer but can also help greatly in your ongoing cancer treatment.
Cancer Researchers from all over the world present every year, at the meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research new results regarding cancer prevention and treatment. As every year one important topic is what kind of anti cancer diet can help protect against the development of tumors.
Broccoli and Soya
Various studies have shown that the consumption of broccoli and soya can help prevent chest- and ovarian cancer. Researches of the University of California have found a biomechanism that can help explain why that occurs.
The two collegues found a substance called Diindolylmethan which is released during the digestion of Soya. It reduces the production of two proteins in the body which are responsible for the development of chest- and ovarian cancer.
Through experiments in their research facility they showed that the mobility of free floating cancer cells could be reduced by as far as 80 percent.
Only problem is that the required amount is too high to be consumed naturally so food supplements are necessary.
Onion, Apples, Berries
A study with over 180 000 participants has shown that a flavonolrich diet can protect, especially smoker, from cancer. This substance is mostly found in onions, apples and berries.
“Participants that had the highest intake of flavanol have shown a cancer risk decrease of 23%.” Are the results reported by the Cancer Research Center of Hawaii. For smoker it went even down by 59%.
Alot helps Alot!
The more fruits and vegetables you eat the better as another 500 000 participants study shows. The National Cancer Institute has found out that if on a daily calorie intake of 2000 you eat 12 portions of fruits and vegetables you can decrease the risk of cancer development by a third.
One portion would be a medium sized fruit or 170 ml of fruit juice for example.
Cancer Diet During Chemotherapy
Increases tolerance to the therapy
A body strengthened by a healthy diet can withstand a chemotherapy better. Studies have shown that a good diet can reduce intensity and duration of the chemo therapy side effects such as stomach sickness, general weakness, lowered immun system and the risk of infections.
Increases the effectiveness of the therapy
Through a healthy diet your body can recover better and faster from the therapy so the frequency can be raised and with it the efficiency.
Helps you control your weight
Some patients lose alot of weight and some patients gain some, both is equally bad, it is best to stay a healthy level.
